We are excited to welcome Torbjørn Wist back to the Telenor team, where his extensive telecom-industry expertise and exceptional financial acumen will significantly contribute to our strategic goals.
A Proven CFO
Torbjørn Wist brings a wealth of experience as a business-oriented CFO with a robust financial background and leadership skills. He has a distinguished track record with Telenor and other publicly listed companies. Currently, he serves as Executive Vice President and CFO at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, a global shipping and logistics firm listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. During his tenure at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, he also acted as CEO for 15 months until May 2022. His CFO role there encompassed Business Performance, including M&A, Accounting and Financial Control, Treasury, Investor Relations, and Tax.
Before Wallenius Wilhelmsen, Wist was the CFO at Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS).
A Rich History in Telecom
Wist previously spent over 13 years at Telenor, where he held the position of SVP & Group Treasurer, overseeing global treasury operations, corporate finance, dividend policy, and financial institution relationships. He also led Telenor’s Group M&A and has a decade of international investment banking experience with a focus on the telecom industry.
“I am honored and thrilled to return to Telenor as Group CFO. Telenor stands in a unique position to deliver value to shareholders and stakeholders through innovative, customer-centric solutions that harness the power of technology. I am eager to contribute to this journey and support the group’s strategic direction and financial performance,” Wist says.
The search for Telenor’s new CFO has been led by the incoming CEO, Benedicte Schilbred Fasmer, who will join Telenor on December 1.
“I look forward to collaborating with Benedicte, the executive management team, the board of directors, and all Telenor entities to foster a cooperative culture and achieve our objectives,” Wist adds.
“I am delighted that Telenor will benefit from Torbjørn Wist’s strong and seasoned leadership. I am confident he will be an excellent choice for Telenor’s future. In the interim, Kasper Wold Kaarbø will continue as acting CFO,” says CEO Sigve Brekke.
