The digital revolution, accelerated by the pandemic, has redefined how we work, live, and play. Remote workers worldwide are now crossing borders to live in their dream destinations. With its stunning island locales and relatively low cost of living, the Philippines is becoming increasingly popular among global remote workers and freelancers.
Filipinos, known for their adaptability, are now one of the fastest-growing remote workforces. Many are relocating to island destinations and provinces, or opting to work from home to spend more time with family or take on multiple jobs. In response to this major shift in work models and attitudes, PLDT Home and Get Hired Online are co-presenting the Get Hired Job Fair and Conference 2024, the first remote workers job fair, on July 26 at SM Megamall. This event aims to empower aspiring remote workers and freelancers by connecting them with leading companies and providing insights from industry experts through workshops and panel discussions.
PLDT Home recognizes the transformative potential of the internet in facilitating remote work and freelancing. By offering reliable and high-speed connectivity, it empowers individuals and businesses to embrace the flexibility and freedom of remote work. Its range of fiber plans allows users to select packages based on their needs and budget.
Get Hired, the job fair organizer, specializes in matching recruiters, agency and BPO owners with potential employees. It has previously organized roadshows, job fairs, career fairs in schools and universities, community meetups, and outreach programs.
The Get Hired Job Fair and Conference features an impressive lineup of 50 hiring and exhibiting companies, 4,000 pre-registered remote workers and freelancers, and partnerships with universities. Walk-ins are also welcomed, including graduates, undergraduates, experienced remote workers, and newcomers. Government agencies such as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), SSS, Pag-Ibig, PhilHealth, Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB) will also be represented.
This event streamlines the recruitment process for employers and employees. Attendees can browse booths, learn about company profiles and missions, explore current job openings, and interact with recruiters.
The diverse opportunities at the job fair enable remote workers and freelancers to find and connect with companies that match their skills and offer environments where they can thrive professionally. Companies ranging from digital agencies to financial services and call centers will screen and shortlist qualified candidates. They will also have the chance to increase their visibility, network, and offer career development training and resources.
