Singtel’s annual charity golf tournament has achieved a new milestone by raising an impressive S$1.48 million for the Singtel Touching Lives Fund (STLF). The STLF supports six special education (SPED) schools that play a crucial role in enriching the lives of students with special needs. These schools provide a comprehensive curriculum that includes academic, vocational, and social skills training, helping students secure meaningful employment and reach their full potential.
Hosted at the Tanah Merah Country Club, the event saw participation from business partners and senior management from across the Singtel Group, including AIS, Globe, NCS, Optus, and Telkomsel.
Yuen Kuan Moon, Group CEO of Singtel, expressed gratitude for the generous contributions from partners that led to this record-breaking amount. “The funds raised will significantly further our mission to enhance the development and inclusion of vulnerable members of our community. We support around 1,800 students annually across our six adopted SPED schools. It’s rewarding to see the positive impact over the past 12 years, including students securing internships and employment opportunities and integrating into mainstream higher education,” said Mr. Moon.
During the post-event dinner, students showcased their vocational skills and musical talents. APSN Delta Senior School students served welcome drinks and dishes to guests, while APSN Tanglin School students impressed with a lively percussion performance.
Beyond fundraising, Singtel actively supports SPED schools through various initiatives throughout the year. These include the Singtel Carnival, which offers a fun and inclusive environment for children with special needs, and the Expressions Through Art program, which highlights students’ artwork in public venues such as the National Gallery Singapore and SMRT stations.
Mr. Phua Huat Chuan, Principal of APSN Tanglin School, commented, “The Singtel Touching Lives Fund has greatly enhanced our students’ educational experiences. Singtel’s support has provided invaluable opportunities for our students to shine, from performing at the charity golf event to participating in the Expressions Through Art exhibitions. This partnership has broadened their horizons and enriched their lives, demonstrating the transformative power of such collaborations.”
Since its inception in 2002, the Singtel Touching Lives Fund has raised over S$57 million, with Singtel covering all fundraising expenses to ensure that every dollar donated goes directly to the cause.
