Cognite and NOVA Chemicals Launch Data Connectivity Initiative Across 11 Sites

Cognite, a global leader in industrial software, and NOVA Chemicals, a major North American polyethylene producer, have launched a multi-site manufacturing data connectivity initiative to accelerate digital transformation across NOVA Chemicals’ operations. Leveraging Cognite’s Industrial DataOps platform, Cognite Data Fusion®, NOVA will integrate data from systems like SAP, Hexagon, and Aspen IP21 into a real-time industrial knowledge graph. This streamlined data access enhances operational efficiency and trust, reducing the time spent on data discovery.

David Lyford, Operational Excellence Leader at NOVA, highlighted that Cognite’s platform allows them to manage siloed data more effectively, improving core operations, timely decision-making, and overall competitiveness. By scaling these efforts across 11 manufacturing sites, NOVA aims to solve critical business challenges, such as:

  • Enhanced data accessibility for field and operational experts
  • Gains in maintenance, troubleshooting, and operations support
  • Improved equipment insights for preventing failures and reducing costs
  • Better scalability of enterprise technology solutions, leading to lower operating costs and sustainability gains

NOVA will present further insights into this initiative at IMPACT 2024, the world’s largest industrial user conference, on October 14-15 in Houston, Texas.
