Karrier One, Ice Wireless, and TCOR Solutions have launched the KIT Consortium, a pioneering partnership aimed at transforming telecommunications infrastructure deployment across Canada, particularly in Indigenous communities and underserved regions.
“With our cutting-edge infrastructure, we’re positioned to lead Canada’s efforts in delivering reliable, high-speed connectivity in even the most remote areas. By partnering with local Indigenous groups, we’re not only deploying infrastructure but also building capacity within these communities to sustain and manage their networks,” said a spokesperson for the consortium.
About the KIT Consortium
The KIT Consortium combines the strengths of three key players:
- Karrier One: A leader in innovative spectrum and telecommunications solutions.
- Ice Wireless: A Canadian Indigenous wireless telecommunications company recognized for deploying advanced networks in remote areas.
- TCOR Solutions: A trusted provider of communications technology integration and project delivery.
Mission of the KIT Consortium
The consortium aims to rapidly deploy spectrum by leveraging the Indigenous Priority Window (IPW) and other regulatory initiatives that empower Indigenous communities. Its focus includes facilitating spectrum access, designing high-performance telecommunications networks, and ensuring sustainable operations for these communities.
“We are proud to launch the KIT Consortium,” stated Samer Bishay, CEO of Karrier One. “This initiative will not only provide advanced connectivity solutions to underserved areas but also foster economic development and cultural preservation for Indigenous communities. Through KIT, we aim to deliver the necessary tools and infrastructure to close the digital divide.”
Collaborative Effort for Transformative Impact
The partnership blends technical, regulatory, and operational expertise to support Indigenous groups in achieving connectivity sovereignty.
“KIT will provide Indigenous communities with access to next-generation technologies while respecting their cultural values,” said Reno Moccia, Executive Director of TCOR. “Our goal is to create a lasting partnership that empowers Indigenous peoples to manage their telecommunications networks, enhancing quality of life and fostering economic growth.”
Deploying 5G Technology with Indigenous Leadership
The KIT Consortium plans to leverage recently secured spectrum in the 3800 MHz range for deploying 5G technologies. With Ice Wireless leading the initiative, the consortium aims to create jobs and promote local business development while ensuring Indigenous voices shape Canada’s telecommunications landscape.
“As the world evolves toward advanced communication technologies, it is crucial that Indigenous communities are not left behind,” remarked Cameron Zubko, COO of Ice Wireless. “By collaborating with local Indigenous groups, we’re deploying infrastructure and building capacity for sustainable network management.”
Building the Future Together
The KIT Consortium invites communities, businesses, and government agencies to support this transformative project, ensuring that no community is left behind in the digital revolution.
