Cloudflare Grows EMEA Presence with New HQ to Boost Customer Demand and Innovation

Cloudflare, a leading cloud connectivity company, has announced the opening of its new headquarters and technical center in Lisbon, Portugal, aimed at bolstering its expanding operations in the EMEA region. This new facility will complement existing offices in London, Paris, Munich, and Dubai, contributing to the growth of Cloudflare’s team in Portugal.

Since launching its first office in Lisbon in 2019, Cloudflare has grown from 14 employees to over 350, with plans for significant expansion in the coming years. The company’s network now spans 58 cities across Europe, including Lisbon, which was added in 2016.

The official opening of the new office featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Portugal’s Minister of Economy, Pedro Reis, and Cloudflare’s top executives, including co-founder and CEO Matthew Prince, and CTO John Graham-Cumming.

Minister Reis remarked, “Portugal will play a key role in the emerging geoeconomy in the coming years. We are investing heavily in strategic infrastructure, energy, innovation, and R&D, and we want to continue attracting new talent. We are delighted that Cloudflare remains committed to Portugal, sharing many of our values and vision for the future.”

Matthew Prince echoed this sentiment, highlighting Portugal’s vibrant technology ecosystem and talented workforce. “Cloudflare has invested in Portugal over the past eight years, making it a well-connected international hub. Lisbon’s charm has attracted several members of our global team who have chosen to call it home,” he said.

As part of its ongoing growth strategy, Cloudflare plans to expand its network to support millions of internet properties, including notable customers in the EMEA region such as Allianz, Banco de Portugal, Carrefour, DHL, L’Oréal, and the Portuguese Football Federation.
