Transact Campus Expands in Canada with Launch of Mobile Credential at University of Victoria

Transact Campus, a Roper Technologies company, has launched its Mobile Credential solution at the University of Victoria, making it the first institution in British Columbia to adopt the technology. With this launch, Transact further cements its position as a leading mobile credential provider in Canada, now serving six major Canadian post-secondary institutions.

Expanding Access and Redefining Student Experience

Initially available to select faculty and staff, the Mobile Credential will roll out to the full student body, faculty, and staff later this month. The solution enables seamless access to campus services through Apple and Google Wallet, providing an unmatched user experience. With the University of Victoria on board, more Canadian campuses are integrating mobile solutions that enhance the student experience and streamline campus operations.

“Implementing mobile technology can seem daunting, but at Transact, we aim to make it straightforward,” said Rasheed Behrooznia, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Campus ID & Commerce at Transact. “Working with large Canadian institutions like the University of Victoria, we’re providing a smooth, scalable transition that allows campuses of all sizes to innovate.”

A Game Changer for Canadian Campuses

Transact’s Mobile Credential supports both Apple and Android devices, delivering a unified experience across platforms. The system integrates fully with the university’s campus ecosystem, making services accessible to students, faculty, and staff for essentials like food, athletic facilities, and library resources, all via mobile devices.

Jim Forbes, Senior Director of Campus Engagement at the University of Victoria, stated, “This adoption of mobile credentials brings significant convenience to students and staff, who can now access services using their phones and wearables, reducing the need for physical cards.”

Sustainability and Modern Student Services

The University of Victoria’s commitment to sustainability aligns seamlessly with Transact’s Mobile Credential, which reduces reliance on physical cards and minimizes plastic waste. “As part of our sustainability initiatives, integrating Transact’s Mobile Credential is a step forward in modernizing services while being environmentally responsible,” said Forbes.

With growing adoption at the University of Victoria, Transact plans to expand its reach in Canada in 2025, helping institutions create a more sustainable, student-centric future.
