Avicena, a provider of advanced LED-based optical interconnects for computing, has announced the immediate appointment of Greg Dougherty to its board of directors. Dougherty brings a wealth of experience in the optical communications sector and a strong background in executive leadership, particularly in developing innovative optical products and technologies.

Dougherty currently serves as a Director at Infinera and MaxLinear. He was the CEO of Oclaro from June 2013 until its acquisition by Lumentum in December 2018 for $1.8 billion, and he also served as a director at Oclaro from April 2009 until the sale. His previous roles include being a director at Avanex Corporation, and he has held executive positions at Picarro, SDL, and Lucent Technologies Microelectronics.
