Viasat, Inc., a global leader in satellite communications, has announced a new partnership with Avionics Networks, a company specializing in advanced communication systems for Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). This collaboration integrates Viasat’s Velaris L-band satellite terminal into Avionics Networks’ multi-link communication systems, enhancing connectivity solutions for UAVs and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) aircraft.
The partnership highlights Viasat’s dedication to advancing Velaris technology, ensuring its position as a leader in beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) connectivity for years to come. Avionics Networks’ LECO-SOLARIS connectivity solution, powered by Viasat Velaris, sets a new benchmark for bandwidth across industries, providing reliable connectivity crucial for mission success. The multi-link solution includes satellite connectivity, cellular 4G/LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, and integrated video processing and compression.
This technology supports a range of critical applications, including the swift and secure delivery of medical supplies, uncrewed search and rescue missions, agricultural operations, safety scanning on oil rigs, and wildfire-fighting aircraft.
Following their strategic alliance, the LECO-SOLARIS solution is undergoing DO-160 certification and supplemental type certification for aircraft. Businesses interested in this technology can place orders now, with deliveries expected later this year.
