CelcomDigi Berhad, Malaysia’s leading mobile network operator, has joined forces with ZTE Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (ZTE), a global telecommunications and information technology leader, to embark on a strategic partnership aimed at revolutionizing Malaysia’s manufacturing and warehousing sectors through the integration of smart technology and innovative 5G solutions.
Under this collaborative effort, CelcomDigi’s Innovation Centre will harness the power of ZTE’s cutting-edge technologies, including ZTE’s Digital Twin technology, Natural Navigated 5G Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV), and Smart Helmet. The primary focus will be on implementing these solutions in smart manufacturing and warehousing to drive the widespread adoption of 5G advancements throughout Malaysia’s manufacturing and warehousing industries.
Key components of the collaboration include the utilization of ZTE’s Digital Twin technology, which facilitates factory automation, real-time machine task control, and data dashboards. This enables accelerated enterprise informatization and IR4.0 transformation, ultimately moving towards the realization of a “lights-out” factory. ZTE’s groundbreaking Natural Navigated 5G AGV, the world’s first with an integrated 5G module, will enhance productivity and logistics within these industries. Additionally, ZTE’s Smart Helmet, equipped with safety features such as vital sign monitoring, GPS positioning for emergency response, and alarm notifications, will contribute to enhanced workplace safety.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) formalizing this collaboration was signed by Datuk Idham Nawawi, CEO of CelcomDigi, and Steven Ge, Managing Director of ZTE Malaysia. The signing ceremony, held at the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, Spain, was witnessed by notable figures, including Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din and CelcomDigi’s Chair of the Board, YM Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin.
Datuk Idham Nawawi expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with ZTE enables us to expedite the deployment of real-world digital applications, particularly in Malaysia’s manufacturing and warehousing sectors. With state-of-the-art 5G solutions, we aim to unlock the full potential of these industries, promoting efficiency and sustainability. We anticipate a fruitful collaboration with ZTE to drive 5G adoption across Malaysian industries and maximize the benefits of this transformative technology within the digital economy.”
Steven Ge echoed this sentiment, saying, “This strategic alliance with CelcomDigi is a significant milestone in ZTE’s mission to propel digital innovation and excellence. CelcomDigi’s commitment to driving 5G adoption aligns with our dedication to advancing technology. We believe in Malaysia’s capability to lead in the digital age. By introducing these transformative solutions, we are poised to revolutionize industries, enhance productivity, and usher in a new era of digital economic growth.”
