CelcomDigi’s MY5G SME Digital Workshop Empowers Sarawak’s MSMEs with Essential Digital Skills

CelcomDigi Berhad (“CelcomDigi”) recently held the second edition of this year’s MY5G SME Digital Workshop in Kuching, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the Sarawak government’s efforts to drive digital transformation among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This initiative aligns with the Sarawak government’s goal to develop digital-ready entrepreneurs and position the state as one of Malaysia’s leading digital economies.

Now in its second year, the CelcomDigi MY5G SME Digital Workshop is designed to equip MSMEs with the knowledge and tools needed to embrace digitalisation. The workshop focuses on 5G-powered technologies, digital solutions, and practical strategies that help businesses embark on their digital transformation journey and thrive in a competitive marketplace. The half-day event provided over 200 MSMEs in Sarawak with opportunities to learn from industry experts, each offering valuable insights into digitalisation.

Hosted in collaboration with Omnicom Media Group, Sarawak Pay, SME Corp, TikTok Shop, Touch ‘n Go eWallet, Lazada, and MyTani, the Kuching edition brought together a wide range of perspectives.

Afizulazha Abdullah, CelcomDigi’s Chief Enterprise Business Officer, remarked, “We share a common goal of harnessing technology and digital innovation to drive our businesses forward. We’ve assembled a lineup of partners from various industries to share actionable insights and real-life examples to inspire your digital transformation journey.”

The workshop kicked off with Omnicom Media Group’s Chief Strategy Officer, Kiron Kesav, who discussed the latest digital trends and how MSMEs can leverage these to boost business performance. Julyskristin Poly from SME Corp highlighted government initiatives designed to support MSMEs, while Aiman Mohamad from Touch ‘n Go eWallet emphasized the importance of integrating digital payment systems into operations. Teoh Hua Thong from Sarawak Pay echoed this sentiment, focusing on the role of local payment platforms in enhancing efficiency. Cherise Ling from TikTok Shop shared strategies for engaging wider audiences through social commerce and content-driven approaches.

To date, CelcomDigi has connected with over 1,000 MSMEs through MY5G SME Digital Workshops held in Kota Bharu, Alor Setar, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, and now Kuching. These workshops provide a platform for participants to gain hands-on insights from a diverse group of industry experts, helping them accelerate their digital transformation.

This workshop is part of the CelcomDigi MY5G Series, which includes the MY5G CEO Series and the MY5G SME Conference, aimed at raising awareness about the benefits of digitalisation and 5G adoption among Malaysia’s business communities. The next event, CelcomDigi MY5G SME Conference 2024, will take place on 5 September 2024 in Subang Jaya, Selangor.
