Comcast Allocates Full $1 Billion Green Bond

Comcast Corporation has released its 2024 Green Bond Report, detailing the full allocation of proceeds from its first green bond, issued in February 2023.

A total of $995 million in net proceeds were directed towards initiatives including green buildings, circular economy projects, clean transportation, energy efficiency improvements, and renewable energy development. “From designing and constructing green buildings that incorporate clean technologies and sustainability features to circular economy projects that extend device lifespans and reduce landfill waste, these investments will provide significant environmental benefits for years to come,” said Sara Cronenwett, Senior Vice President of Corporate Environmental Sustainability at Comcast.

Key project highlights include:

  • Sky Studios Elstree: Completed in 2023, Sky Studios Elstree is the UK’s latest cutting-edge film and TV studio. It earned an ‘Outstanding’ rating from albert in its Studio Sustainability Standard Report 2024. The studio purchases 100% renewable electricity, with around 25% generated from its 2.9 MW rooftop solar installations. Additional sustainability measures include rainwater harvesting, LED lighting, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and a fully electric fleet for operations.
  • Electric Vehicles: Comcast invested in clean transportation, including electric vans and pickups for Xfinity service technicians and a large fleet of electric and solar-powered golf carts for production and operations teams at Universal Studios Lot.
  • Circularity by Design: Comcast continues its long-running refurbishing programs, extending the life of certain devices through testing, repair, and refurbishment. The company’s National Recycling Program also focuses on recovering and redistributing materials to divert cable equipment waste from landfills.
