Xumo Enterprise, the B2B arm of the joint venture between Comcast and Charter Communications, has teamed up with Cox Communications to bring free ad-supported TV (FAST) channels directly into Cox’s linear guide. This move provides customers with more diverse programming options at no extra cost.
Following Xfinity, Cox becomes the latest multichannel video programming distributor (MVPD) to integrate Xumo-powered FAST channels after the successful rollout on X1 and the Xfinity Stream app last year. Xumo Enterprise has long been syndicating and delivering FAST channels across streaming platforms, and the Xfinity and Cox launches mark a significant step in making these channels more widely accessible on a growing range of connected devices.
Cox’s Contour TV customers can now explore 20 Xumo-branded FAST channels, featuring a variety of content including action, comedy, drama, game shows, children’s programming, and reality TV.
Later this year, Sky will also integrate six new FAST channels into its TV guide for Sky Glass and Sky Stream devices. These channels, which debuted last month and offer beloved shows from Sky’s extensive catalog, are currently accessible via the Xumo Play app on Sky’s Entertainment OS-powered devices. By incorporating these channels into the guide, Sky will offer its viewers an easier way to discover and enjoy this content alongside their favorite programming.
These integrations reflect Xumo’s ongoing efforts to meet the growing consumer demand for FAST. A recent Xumo study revealed that pay TV customers watch more FAST content than cord-cutters or cord-nevers, with viewing time during prime hours rivaling that of gaming, social media, and even cable TV
