Deutsche Telekom AG, T-Mobile US (NASDAQ: TMUS), and hubraum, Deutsche Telekom’s tech incubator, have teamed up to host their first-ever global API competition. Developers and innovators worldwide are invited to participate, leveraging APIs to create innovative business opportunities and solutions for customers.
The competition will focus on five key areas where APIs could make an immediate impact in telecommunications:
- Automotive: Enabling connected cars and autonomous vehicle technologies.
- Broadcasting: Enhancing streaming efficiencies for production teams through API-driven improvements.
- Government: Supporting secure, compliant data sharing to automate processes and deliver more efficient, transparent, and responsive services to citizens.
- Healthcare: Building connected, secure, and responsive healthcare ecosystems that better serve patients, providers, and other stakeholders.
- Industrial: Empowering manufacturing companies and energy providers with reliable connectivity, real-time data integration, and process automation for smart grids and advanced technologies.
Competition Phases
- Phase 1: Applicants from North America will be reviewed by T-Mobile US, while those from the EU will be evaluated by Deutsche Telekom.
- Phase 2: Up to 50 selected applicants from both regions will pitch their ideas in an online session. The 20 best teams (10 from each region) will be recognized in a “Best Use Case” report published by T-Mobile and Deutsche Telekom.
- Phase 3: The top 10 teams (5 from each region) will advance to demonstrate their solutions on-site at T-Mobile’s 5G Hub in Bellevue, Washington, or Deutsche Telekom’s hubraum lab in Krakow.
