The original figure of the FirstNet network was done on time, on budget and on task. ”
With those words, the First Responder Network Authority Board Chair Chief Richard Carrizzo verified and validated the successful completion of the original 5- time buildout of FirstNet ®, America’s public safety broadband network.
The trip to this moment has been remarkable — it started with the development of custom FirstNet state plans for all 50 countries, the District of Columbia, and the 5U.S. homes. Eventually, all 56 countries and homes decided to conclude into FirstNet, remonstrating off AT&T’s nationwide buildout of public safety’s network in 2018, which was contractually needed to be completed by March 30, 2023. Since also, the FirstNet Authority reviewed and vindicated all aspects of the figure commitments climaxing with a final confirmation in December.
Through our public-private cooperation — and close collaboration with the public safety community across the country we’ve achieved numerous mileposts with the completion of the original phase of buildout of FirstNet representing a defining accomplishment.
We’re thankful to the public safety community who had the vision. They handed essential feedback and guidance that informed every stage of the original buildout. Their vision is now reality. But we are n’t stopping there. Through the life of this public-private cooperation, the FirstNet Authority will continuously make investments to grow and evolve the network for America’s first askers. Public safety’s vision for FirstNet stemmed from the dispatches failures that passed during the response to the September 11 terrorist attacks. The9/11 Commission report recommended the creation of a single, civil broadband network specifically for first askers, and Congress passed bipartisan legislation to address the dispatches challenges that had long hampered public safety response.
FirstNet is one of the most significant structure programs in our country and it has delivered for America’s first askers on time and on budget. In the last 5 times, the FirstNet cooperation delivered further than 1,000 new, purpose- erected cell spots where state and public safety stakeholders linked a content need to further exigency response. EveryU.S. state, home and the District of Columbia benefits from the FirstNet structure investment. also, the FirstNet Authority’s licensed Band 14 diapason was stationed across the country to give all first askers — career or levy; civil, ethnical, state or original; civic, suburban or pastoral — the devoted connectivity they bear when and where they need it.
Both the FirstNet making law and the civil government’s contract with AT&T needed that pastoral areas would be a precedence in the civil FirstNet buildout. As a result, FirstNet moment covers further than2.91 million square long hauls. That’s 250,000 square long hauls more than marketable networks. This did n’t be by accident — it was achieved because public safety’s requirements guided where the network was erected. And FirstNet has bolstered network capacity and expanded wireless content in pastoral and ethnical areas.
For ethnical communities, the FirstNet content footmark increased on ethnical lands by further than 40 between 2020 and 2022. This includes the further than 100 cell spots gauging Navajo Nation’s vast home in New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah, as well as collaborations with original telecom providers to snappily address pastoral content requirements. The civil structure investment continues to give critical FirstNet connectivity for the stalwart men and women who cover and serve pastoral and ethnical communities across America.
That said, our work is far from done. With the original buildout completed, we ’re shifting to the coming phase of evolving, enhancing, and expanding FirstNet, fastening on constant invention to insure first askers can reliably communicate and pierce advanced, purpose- erected results to keep both themselves and their communities safe.
The FirstNet Authority and AT&T have the distinct honor to serve America’s first askers. Together alongside the public safety community — we will continue to drive invention and expand the reach of the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network. We ’re proud and completely committed to the vision and charge of FirstNet and look forward to the work ahead.
