HCLTech Boosts Engineering Services for CSPs with HPE Asset Acquisition

HCLTech (NSE: HCLTECH), a leading global technology company, has announced a significant expansion in the telecom services market through a strategic partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE). HCLTech will acquire specific assets from HPE’s Communications Technology Group (CTG), including industry-leading intellectual property (IP), engineering and R&D talent, and client relationships with major global Communication Service Providers (CSPs).

This acquisition will bolster HCLTech’s service offerings, incorporating advanced IP, solutions, and systems integration related to Business Support Systems (BSS), network applications, service cloudification, and data intelligence. These new capabilities will complement HCLTech’s existing services, which emphasize artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and data-driven models. The result will be enhanced efficiency, seamless integration, and a comprehensive partner ecosystem.

HPE will retain its Operations Support Systems (OSS) segment of the former CTG business. The Telco Solutions group within HPE Aruba Networking will continue to lead in OSS, orchestration, and assurance, as well as public 5G SDM and private 5G networking, maintaining its value delivery for HPE’s telco customers and partners.

The transaction, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, is expected to finalize in the next 6 to 9 months.

“With this transaction and our strategic partnership with HPE, we are enhancing our telecom practice to address the rapidly evolving global telecom market,” said C Vijayakumar, CEO and Managing Director of HCLTech. “The integration of top engineering talent and leading IP from HPE’s CTG group, along with direct relationships with 20 of the Top 30 global CSPs, will accelerate our growth strategy in the telecom industry. We anticipate a robust strategic partnership with HPE, fostering growth through innovation, joint integrated propositions, and transformation services.”

Antonio Neri, President and CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, stated, “At HPE, we continuously refine our portfolio to meet the dynamic needs of our customers. We are pleased to partner with HCLTech, who is well-suited to support the ongoing transformation of global telecom, media, and tech companies. Joining HCLTech, our CTG business will be part of a strong entity that values our CTG’s heritage, strategy, and future potential.”

As part of this agreement, around 1,500 CTG employees with telecom industry experience will transition to HCLTech, serving clients in various countries, including Spain, Italy, India, Japan, and China.
