Integration of NTT’s IOWN Technology with IP Infusion: A 400Gbps Solution
NTT Corporation (NTT) and IP Infusion Inc., a leading U.S. software company, have teamed up to develop the IOWN Network Solution (400G). This solution merges NTT’s IOWN technology with IP Infusion’s software to deliver high-speed, high-capacity, and energy-efficient communication.
NTT and ACCESS Co., Ltd. (ACCESS) have been enhancing their collaboration on network OS R&D, productization, and global sales through a capital and business alliance. Today, nine companies—NTT, NTT Advanced Technology Corporation (NTT-AT), ACCESS, IP Infusion, Broadcom Inc., Edgecore Networks Corporation, UfiSpace Co., Ltd., Fujitsu Optical Components Ltd. (FOC), and NEC Corporation—are announcing their readiness to offer this solution for 400Gbps high-speed data center connectivity.
The solution, available through NTT-AT and IP Infusion, enables data center operators and telecom carriers to build cost-effective, high-speed inter-data center networks using 400G ZR/ZR+ for long-distance transmission. It promises to cut construction and operation costs by 50%, reduce power consumption by 40%, and save rack space.
Background
The surge in data center power consumption, driven by the rise of generative AI and machine learning, has become a pressing issue. With future data volumes expected to grow, there is increasing demand for cost-effective, high-speed connections between data centers to handle expanding data processing needs while minimizing power consumption.
Traditional high-speed data center connections rely on integrated software-hardware devices with limited optical transceiver options, which can be costly. The need for improved investment efficiency has led to a focus on disaggregating software and hardware and offering flexible transceiver options.
IOWN Network Solution (400G) Overview
This solution features a switch/router designed for 400Gbps long-distance transmission. It consists of disaggregated software and hardware, including a network OS (software), white box switches/routers (hardware), and 400G ZR/ZR+ optical transceivers. Customers can select from a range of open-standard, fully validated optical transceivers based on their specific needs.Customer Inquiries For inquiries, please contact the sales representatives at NTT-AT and IP Infusion.
