Built on the robust Iridium Certus platform, this new solution includes essential services such as distress alert, safety voice communication, and Maritime Safety Information (MSI). It also integrates regulated services like Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) and the Ship Security Alert System (SSAS).

Iridium Certus GMDSS can be used as a standalone solution or as a companion to a vessel’s Ka/Ku-band broadband system. It offers essential safety features required for all SOLAS-class ships, as mandated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The system ensures that vessels can quickly send distress signals, receive vital safety information, and communicate with rescue coordination centers (RCC) in emergencies. Pressing the distress button connects the crew to an RCC in seconds, allowing for rapid assessment and response.
