PLDT Inc. (PLDT) and Cignal TV have pledged their full support for the historic 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, set to be hosted solely by the Philippines from September 12 to 28, 2025.
As the country’s leading telecommunications network, PLDT will serve as the official broadband partner for the championship, while Cignal TV, the pay TV arm of the MediaQuest Group, will be the event’s official broadcaster.
Manuel V Pangilinan, Chairman and CEO of PLDT, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to inspire a new generation of Filipino athletes and showcase the nation’s fervor for sports on a global platform. He emphasized the significance of the Philippines’ role as the inaugural solo host of the prestigious men’s volleyball tournament and affirmed PLDT’s commitment to collaborating with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) to ensure an exceptional experience for fans worldwide.
The championship marks a significant milestone for Philippine volleyball, with the event expanding to accommodate 32 teams, making it the largest FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship to date. The sport has seen a surge in popularity across the Philippines, evidenced by the passionate support for local leagues such as Spikers’ Turf, Premier Volleyball League (PVL), and the PNVF Champions League.
Ramon Suzara, President of the PNVF, acknowledged the challenges of hosting elite teams and fans from around the world but expressed confidence in the Filipino capacity to create a welcoming and competitive environment on home soil.
Preparations for the Philippine men’s national volleyball team are already underway, including a thorough selection process for the player pool and the introduction of a new team name. PLDT’s ongoing support for the national team, demonstrated through partnerships like the recent 2023 Volleyball Nations League in Manila, underscores its commitment to advancing Philippine volleyball on the global stage.
