T-Mobile has revealed the Top 16 finalists in its Friday Night 5G Lights competition, which saw over 1,700 high schools from small towns across all 50 states compete for a chance to win a cutting-edge 5G technology upgrade for their football fields. Each finalist will receive a $25,000 grant, along with a special T-Mobile celebration at an upcoming home game, featuring games, giveaways, and free concessions.
“These small towns really showed their spirit during Friday Night 5G Lights,” said Jon Freier, President of T-Mobile’s Consumer Group. “This competition highlights the strong sense of community that exists in these areas. We’re excited to see which school will win the grand prize and experience a game night like never before, powered by 5G.”
The grand prize winner, chosen by public vote, will receive a $2 million 5G upgrade package, including a $100,000 grant, weight room from GronkFitness.com, new scoreboard, network upgrades, and a halftime drone show. Voting is open through Nov. 12 at FridayNight5GLights.com.
In addition to the grand prize, each finalist school will host a local food drive as part of T-Mobile’s partnership with Feeding America, supporting food banks in rural communities.
Rob Gronkowski added, “It’s been amazing to see the school pride and community spirit come alive. I’m excited to see how the finalists take it to the next level for their shot at the ultimate prize.”
T-Mobile’s initiative is part of its ongoing commitment to supporting small towns, investing over $14 million in local communities and providing 5G connectivity to over 98% of Americans. The Friday Night 5G Lights competition is yet another example of how T-Mobile is bringing cutting-edge technology and community support to rural areas.
