VeriSilicon (688521.SH) has revealed its collaboration with Innobase, a prominent provider of wireless communication technology and chips, to jointly introduce a cutting-edge 5G RedCap/4G LTE dual-mode modem solution. Innobase’s newly developed chip for this modem solution has successfully undergone tape-out and verification, marking its transition into mass production and imminent global market release.
Defined by the international standardization organization 3GPP in 5G Release 17, 5G Reduced Capability (RedCap) stands as an IoT-focused cellular technology, designed for mid-to-high speed IoT applications. When combined with 4G LTE, it creates a comprehensive cellular IoT ecosystem.
This collaborative modem solution launch is a key component of the strategic partnership between VeriSilicon and Innobase. This partnership enables VeriSilicon to expand its wireless communication IP portfolio, providing customers with both 4G and 5G modem IP solutions. Additionally, the collaboration will deliver a range of complete user equipment (UE) reference designs, encompassing critical components like radio frequency (RF) transceivers and power management chipsets.

Innobase has achieved a significant milestone by developing the world’s first commercially available IP that aligns with the 5G RedCap/4G LTE dual-mode communication standards. The chip has undergone verification for mass production, supporting diverse application scenarios such as RedCap communication modules, affordable 5G smartphones, wearables, smart vehicles, industrial IoT, video surveillance, and smart grids.

VeriSilicon, dedicated to the development and industrialization of low-power, high-performance IoT wireless communication technologies, leverages its expertise in RF technologies and proprietary ZSP Digital Signal Processor (DSP) IPs. These technologies, based on the advanced 22nm FD-SOI process, offer low power consumption and high RF performance, enabling the delivery of all-in-one wireless system designs that support various technical standards and applications like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular IoT, and multi-mode satellite navigation and positioning.
