Telefónica has recently received a remarkable Centennial gift from the LEGO Group, marking a significant milestone in its history. The iconic Gran Vía 28 headquarters, meticulously recreated at a scale of 1:50, will now stand proudly at Telefónica’s headquarters, Distrito Telefónica.
This architectural marvel is not just any LEGO® creation; it stands as one of the largest constructions by the LEGO Group globally and holds the distinction of being the tallest LEGO replica in Spain. Telefónica’s headquarters becomes the first to have its founding building recreated on a miniature scale, crafted by a certified professional from the LEGO Group.
Crafting this masterpiece required an astonishing 264,820 LEGO® elements, all meticulously assembled by hand over nearly 400 hours. The finished replica, standing at 2 x 2 x 2.70 meters and weighing 382 kilograms, is a testament to precision and dedication.
Georg Schmitt, the LEGO® Group Certified Professional behind this endeavor, completed the assembly live at the Telefónica District esplanade in Madrid. The event witnessed by company executives and Telefónica employees alike, showcased the culmination of meticulous craftsmanship.
Vincent Plane, the Country Manager of the LEGO Group in Spain, highlighted the shared values between Telefónica and the LEGO Group, particularly emphasizing their commitment to connecting people.
