Deutsche Telekom has introduced a new software-as-a-service solution named “Law Monitor”. This AI-driven model aids corporate legal departments in swiftly identifying changes to national laws and, eventually, international laws.
Law Monitor Enhances Transparency
Given the extensive regulations in Germany and globally, companies must monitor an increasing number of laws to ensure legal compliance. This requirement spans all industries, necessitating significant resource allocation. For instance, starting this month, the European packaging industry must produce disposable plastic bottles with attached lids to reduce environmental plastic waste. Legal adjustments demand that the packaging industry responds accordingly.
Recognize, Structure, Inform
Law Monitor automates the labor-intensive task of law monitoring by scanning legal texts from the German Federal Law Gazette. Utilizing AI, the solution identifies and organizes legal texts available online, including text, images, and tables. Legal department employees can quickly view changes through a dashboard, allowing them to focus on content review and context assessment.
Cross-Industry and International Reach
Unlike existing competitors, Law Monitor can display legal changes from multiple countries within a single tool. It currently tracks legislative changes in Germany, with plans to add 19 more countries, including specific US states, in the coming months. Law Monitor is applicable to all industries and the public sector.
Automating Internal Processes
“AI is here to stay. At T-Systems, we position ourselves as consultants for our clients and aim to make AI tangible. Law Monitor exemplifies this. Automotive companies, for example, must daily verify any legal changes. Since July 7, binding regulations across the EU mandate the integration of specific assistance systems, such as emergency braking and lane departure warning systems, in new cars. Law Monitor provides car manufacturers with real-time transparency of these regulations, enabling early production adjustments,” states Dr. Ferri Abolhassan, CEO of T-Systems and member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom AG.
An automotive industry customer is already utilizing “Law Monitor,” with other customers from the automotive and packaging industries expressing interest.
