Last year, AIS, in collaboration with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi and academic experts, introduced Thailand’s first “Thailand Cyber Wellness Index.” This study revealed the level of digital literacy and understanding among Thais and underscored the need for continued development in digital skills to better equip them to handle various cyber threats. As a result, government and private agencies have used the findings to enhance digital literacy programs tailored to specific age groups, professions, and geographic regions, aligning with the needs of their target audiences.
This year’s study shows that while Thais have improved their digital literacy to a basic level, significant gaps remain. More than half of Thais still lack essential knowledge and understanding of cybersecurity and safety, particularly in areas that could jeopardize their personal and organizational security. For example, many are unaware of the risks posed by ransomware attacks, using public Wi-Fi for financial transactions, setting easily guessable passwords like birth dates, or recognizing that a secure website should have an HTTPS URL.
Mrs. Saichon further explained, “We are working on both promoting digital literacy and developing protective tools. Today, we have launched the ‘Digital Health Check’ tool, enabling Thais to analyze and assess their digital skills. The tool also provides personalized learning recommendations to help individuals strengthen their cybersecurity knowledge.”
