Astound Broadband Teams Up with Habitat for Humanity to Foster Inclusive Communities Nationwide

Astound Broadband (Astound), a distinguished provider of Internet, Mobile, and TV services, has proudly unveiled a sweeping collaboration with Habitat for Humanity, aimed at bolstering affordable homeownership initiatives in communities within and beyond Astound’s service domain. This multifaceted partnership underscores Astound’s unwavering commitment to amalgamating financial backing, in-kind assistance, employee engagement, and fostering avenues for customer involvement. Astound’s generous contribution surpasses $670,000 to Habitat for Humanity, earmarked for home construction projects and facilitating over 40 employee volunteer engagements across communities served by Astound.

April, designated as Fair Housing Month, commemorates the historic passage of the 1968 Fair Housing Act, a pivotal legislation prohibiting discrimination in housing based on race, religion, or nationality. In alignment with this, Astound pledges its support to Habitat’s annual Home is the Key national campaign, endeavoring to promote equitable homeownership access and cultivate inclusive communities nationwide. As part of this commitment, Astound will actively participate in two home build events slated for April 26th, at 1435 Philip Street in Bethlehem, PA, and 7200 S University Ave in Chicago, IL. These events will witness Astound’s dedicated employee volunteers collaborating with local Habitat for Humanity affiliates and future homeowners to construct their new dwellings.

Jim Holanda, CEO of Astound, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “As Fair Housing Month commences, Astound’s collaboration with Habitat for Humanity underscores our commitment to dismantling barriers to homeownership, addressing racial equity, and bridging the wealth gap. Our employees are ready to roll up their sleeves and contribute to building affordable homes alongside families in our local communities, reinforcing our enduring dedication to community service.”

Charlita Stephens-Walker, Vice President of Corporate and Cause Marketing Partnerships at Habitat for Humanity International, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Astound Broadband as a sponsor of Home is the Key this year. Habitat recognizes the transformative impact of safe, affordable homes on individuals and communities. Partnerships like this with Astound further our mission to foster equitable and inclusive access to homeownership for all.”

This collaboration epitomizes Astound’s steadfast commitment to community service, exemplified through volunteerism, philanthropy, and financial support, with a keen focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Over the years, Astound has extended support to numerous local and national nonprofit organizations, channeling resources where they’re needed most. Notable initiatives include distributing $1 million in grants to 30 local nonprofits in 2022, rallying support for Feeding America during the pandemic in 2020, and spearheading the nation’s first high school fiber optic program in Peabody, MA, in 2021. Through initiatives like these, Astound continues to make a meaningful impact, providing opportunities and fostering positive change within the communities it serves.
