CRIANN Enhances French Research Network Bandwidth with Adtran FSP 3000

The Normandy-based Centre Régional Informatique et d’Applications Numériques de Normandie (CRIANN) has taken a major step forward in enhancing its research and education network by deploying Adtran’s advanced FSP 3000 optical transport technology, supported by the Normandy Region’s funding. This upgrade, featuring high-capacity, energy-efficient infrastructure, will enable CRIANN to support the rapid data growth of Normandy’s academic and scientific communities. The integration was executed with the support of Adtran’s Elite partner Axians, who also provides ongoing maintenance and support.

The deployment of Adtran’s FSP 3000, an open and flexible optical platform, enables CRIANN’s network to seamlessly scale to handle intensive data requirements, supporting speeds up to 400Gbit/s per wavelength. This upgrade significantly boosts bandwidth across all three CRIANN sites, making it easier for educational institutions to conduct data-heavy simulations, AI research, and other demanding tasks requiring high-speed, secure connectivity.

To further increase network resilience and operational efficiency, CRIANN has implemented Adtran’s ALM fiber monitoring platform. This system enables in-service monitoring and rapid identification of fiber issues, allowing CRIANN’s team to quickly respond to potential disruptions. Combined with Adtran’s Mosaic Network Controller and Fiber Director, this setup provides real-time geographic data on fiber infrastructure, helping reduce response times, minimize operational costs, and improve network availability.
