T-Mobile Donates $12M for Local Change

T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) has unveiled the latest recipients of its Hometown Grants program, extending support to 275 communities spanning 46 states. These selected areas will receive funding and assistance to drive local projects aimed at fostering connectivity and innovation. With over $12 million already disbursed in Hometown Grants since the program’s inception in April 2021, T-Mobile is well on track to achieve its $25 million commitment over five years.

The Hometown Grants initiative embodies T-Mobile’s dedication to empowering residents of small towns and rural communities to enact positive change in their locales. By supporting a diverse range of community development endeavors encompassing infrastructure, education, technology, and environmental sustainability, T-Mobile is actively contributing to the resilience and prosperity of communities nationwide. Notably, the program’s reach now extends to include towns in Louisiana, Massachusetts, and Nebraska.

Some of the highlighted projects include:

  • Constructing a gazebo at the Public Safety Complex Lake in Jacksonville, Ala., providing a covered outdoor space for recreational activities and community gatherings.
  • Transforming an empty lot and former library space into an outdoor green space in Camden, Ark., promoting community engagement, environmental sustainability, and recreational opportunities.
  • Revitalizing the Riggs-Hamilton American Legion Post 20 in Russellville, Ark., by updating its interior to include ADA accessible restrooms.
  • Refurbishing the United Disaster Relief of Northern California (UDRNC) Resource Center in Ukiah, Calif., to create a welcoming environment for disaster-affected individuals and families.
  • Establishing a Business Tech Center for The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN) community in Connecticut, aimed at supporting tribal entrepreneurs.

These initiatives reflect a commitment to fostering inclusive growth and community well-being across diverse regions.

T-Mobile selects Hometown Grant recipients in collaboration with Main Street America and Smart Growth America, assessing applications based on factors such as community impact, feasibility, and level of detail. Each quarter, T-Mobile awards 25 Hometown Grants to small towns with populations of 50,000 or less.

Beyond Hometown Grants, T-Mobile continues its commitment to rural communities through initiatives like Project 10Million, which provides free internet connectivity and mobile hotspots to eligible students, addressing the digital divide. Additionally, T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet and Business Internet services offer reliable and affordable broadband options to homes and businesses nationwide.

Moreover, T-Mobile is expanding its Ultra Capacity 5G network in rural areas, enhancing connectivity for millions of customers across nearly 300,000 square miles. Recent network expansions include counties such as Scott County, Kansas, Pennington County, Pennsylvania, and Marathon and Portage County, Wisconsin, further demonstrating T-Mobile’s dedication to bridging the digital divide and empowering communities through connectivity.
