Viasat, Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT), a renowned player in the satellite communications arena, proudly announces the victory of its InCommand solution in the Government Mobile Innovation category at the 2024 Satellite Mobile Innovation Awards, organized by the Mobile Satellite User Association (MSUA). These prestigious awards celebrate groundbreaking advancements in mobile connectivity across various domains including land, sea, air, and space. With a keen eye on sustainability amidst the burgeoning commercial space endeavors, these awards align with MSUA’s mission to ensure the enduring health and safety of the space ecosystem.
InCommand, a pivotal component of Viasat’s array of space-to-space, multi-band, multi-orbit solutions, facilitates on-demand commanding and telemetry for space assets operating beneath geostationary orbit (GEO). It establishes seamless real-time connectivity for space relay to support satellites in low and medium Earth orbits through Viasat’s L-band network, thereby reducing reliance on ground infrastructure and ensuring prompt responses to satellite operational requirements.
InCommand is poised to bolster NASA’s Communications Services Project (CSP) during the Launch and Early Operations Phase (LEOP) as well as Mission operations. In an imminent demonstration, the InCommand solution will leverage Viasat’s global L-band network to deliver real-time telemetry, tracking, and control (TT&C) operations at any juncture of a spacecraft’s orbit.
Susan Miller, President of Viasat Government, expressed gratitude for the recognition from MSUA, stating, “The team at Viasat is honored to receive this award. This acknowledgment underscores our steadfast commitment to pioneering and delivering innovative commercial solutions that cater to the evolving communication needs of near-Earth orbit operations. We are dedicated to furnishing government and commercial operators with dependable, adaptable, and cost-effective space-relay communications as a service.”
