T-Mobile Unleashes Big Game-Ready 5G Upgrades Across Las Vegas

Las Vegas, known for hosting the world’s biggest sports and entertainment events, is now even more connected, thanks to T-Mobile’s permanent ultra-fast 5G upgrades. Allegiant Stadium, the city’s second most iconic sports venue, has just received a boost with T-Mobile’s latest announcement. The Un-carrier has enhanced 5G coverage and capacity inside the stadium, delivering peak download speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps – a remarkable 10 times faster than before. Additionally, peak upload speeds have been elevated to an impressive 200 Mbps.

Ulf Ewaldsson, President of Technology at T-Mobile, emphasized the importance of staying ahead in a city like Las Vegas, saying, “Everyone knows Las Vegas is a hub for the biggest sports and entertainment events in the world.” T-Mobile’s early and extensive investments in permanent upgrades across the region aim to keep customers connected not just during specific events, but year-round.

With an estimated 450,000 visitors expected in Sin City, T-Mobile customers can rely on these upgrades made, in part, for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The recent New Year’s celebrations served as a testament to the network’s capabilities, with a 22% increase in 5G traffic and a 42% boost in download throughput compared to 2023.

Here’s a glimpse of how T-Mobile is ensuring a seamless Big Game experience with its upgrades inside Allegiant Stadium:

  • 62 iDAS sectors within the stadium, including 3 sectors covering the field, providing complete Ultra Capacity 5G coverage.
  • 7 oDAS sectors just outside the stadium for improved coverage during celebrations around the venue.
  • mmWave enhancements both inside and outside the stadium for T-Mobile users to enjoy the fastest 5G speeds while staying updated on social feeds.

T-Mobile is not stopping at the stadium; temporary enhancements have been strategically placed at key celebration locations, including the Fountains of Bellagio, Mandalay Bay Parking Garage, Wynn Parking Garage, and Brooklyn Bowl.

Since the Las Vegas Grand Prix, T-Mobile has continued its commitment to permanent upgrades, extending coverage to 25 iconic locations across the city. These include enhancements at the Cosmopolitan, Fontainebleau, Harry Reid International Airport, and the addition of 17 small cell sites.

Being recognized as the fastest mobile network in Nevada and 46 other states, T-Mobile offers the best mobile video experience according to Ookla and Opensignal. For those who can’t make it to the Big Game, T-Mobile’s Network Pass allows you to experience the nation’s leader in 5G for free for three months.

As the leader in 5G, T-Mobile boasts the country’s largest, fastest, and most awarded 5G network, covering more than 330 million people across two million square miles. With over 300 million people enjoying T-Mobile’s super-fast Ultra Capacity 5G, the Un-carrier surpasses competitors with more coverage and faster speeds.
