Comcast NBCUniversal Named Community-Minded Company for 11th Year

For the 11th consecutive year, Points of Light has recognized Comcast NBCUniversal as one of The Civic 50, an honor given to the 50 most community-focused companies in the United States. Comcast NBCUniversal is among the few companies that have consistently maintained high marks throughout the program’s 12-year history.

Comcast NBCUniversal demonstrates its longstanding commitment to positive social impact through Project UP, a $1 billion initiative aimed at promoting digital equity and economic mobility. This initiative opens doors for future innovators, entrepreneurs, storytellers, and creators. Throughout another year of impactful collaboration and community investment, the company has worked to create a future of limitless possibilities by helping individuals gain the connectivity, skills, and resources essential for success in the digital age.

In 2023, Comcast NBCUniversal partnered with the National Skills Coalition to assist local and state leaders in integrating existing workforce development programs with federal Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program and Digital Equity Act funding. This partnership underscores the importance of digital skills and workforce development in bridging the digital divide. The company expanded its network of Digital Navigators, who are trusted individuals trained to help people develop digital skills, obtain devices, and access other resources. Additionally, Comcast NBCUniversal increased its support for college- and career-readiness programs, granting over $25 million to community organizations that offer skill building, job training, and career development opportunities. This support ensures that both children and adults have the necessary resources and assistance to build a more equitable workforce.

Comcast NBCUniversal’s dedication to community service also encompasses its year-round employee volunteer and engagement programs. In 2023, more than 16,000 employees participated in volunteer efforts and board service, contributing nearly 130,000 volunteer hours. Furthermore, through the company’s matching gift program, employees raised approximately $6 million in donations for community organizations across the nation.

The Civic 50, an initiative by Points of Light—the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service—compiles its list based on an annual survey. This list serves as a benchmarking tool and platform for sharing best practices in corporate citizenship.
