Singtel has announced the imminent launch of its GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) in Singapore and Southeast Asia, slated for the third quarter of this year. This initiative aims to provide enterprises with access to NVIDIA’s cutting-edge AI computing power, propelling efficiency gains to drive growth and foster innovation.
At the outset, Singtel’s GPUaaS will harness the capabilities of NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPU-powered clusters, hosted in upgraded data centers across Singapore. Moreover, Singtel will be at the forefront globally in deploying NVIDIA’s upcoming GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchips, which promise a staggering 30 times faster real-time large language model inference compared to their predecessors. Singtel is set to be among the first NVIDIA Partner Network Cloud Partners to integrate these chips, slated for early next year. This strategic move will offer enterprise customers a variety of accelerator options to meet their evolving advanced computing and AI requirements.
Subsequently, the GPUaaS initiative will extend its reach to operate within three new state-of-the-art, sustainable, hyper-connected, high-density AI data centers, established by Singtel’s regional data center arm, Nxera. These centers, located in Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia, will commence operations in the near future. Singtel aims to deploy over 100MW of these next-generation sustainable AI-ready data centers through Nxera within the next three years.
Bill Chang, CEO of Singtel’s Digital InfraCo unit and Nxera regional data center business, emphasized the growing interest from both private and public sectors in deploying AI at scale efficiently. He highlighted that Singtel’s GPUaaS will operate within AI-ready data centers, specifically designed for intense compute environments. These centers will feature purpose-built liquid-cooling technologies for maximum efficiency and reduced Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), offering flexibility for AI deployment without the burden of managing expensive data center infrastructure.
Chang emphasized the democratization of AI access for enterprises of all sizes, enabling them to leverage powerful compute resources to expedite the development of generative AI, large language models, and other AI workloads. He underscored Singtel’s commitment to bolstering Singapore’s position as a digital and AI hub while supporting regional digital transformation endeavors through its next-generation digital infrastructure, comprising AI data centers, fixed networks, 5G technology integrated with the patented Paragon orchestration platform, and GPUaaS.
Ronnie Vasishta, Senior Vice President of Telecom at NVIDIA, commended Singtel’s endeavor, highlighting the transformative potential of NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platform. He emphasized how Singtel’s GPU-as-a-Service offering, powered by NVIDIA, will enable businesses across Southeast Asia to harness the efficiencies AI brings to the table, thereby fostering growth and innovation in the region.
